Carpenter

Position Summary

The Carpenter performs skilled construction, installation, renovation, and repair work on Rosebud Construction, Inc. (RCI) projects.

The position is responsible for completing assigned carpentry and related construction activities safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and RCI quality standards.

RCI’s Carpenter is expected to work independently within assigned scopes, assist with planning and material needs, maintain quality workmanship, and help less-experienced employees develop construction skills.

Superintendent, Foreman, or other designated field supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Perform general and finish carpentry on residential, commercial, renovation, and repair projects.

· Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, dimensions, layouts, and written work instructions.

· Measure, layout, cut, assemble, install, repair, and finish construction materials.

· Perform framing and miscellaneous structural and non-structural carpentry within assigned project scopes.

· Install and replace interior and exterior doors, frames, casing, trim, and hardware.

· Install and replace windows and associated trim and finish components.

· Install siding, exterior trim, soffit, fascia, and other exterior carpentry components when included in the project scope.

· Install cabinets, casework, countertops, blocking, trim, and related components.

· Perform finish carpentry, including baseboard, casing, molding, and other interior trim.

· Assist with drywall installation, replacement, patching, and preparation when required by the project.

· Assist with flooring preparation and installation, including luxury vinyl plank and other flooring systems within RCI’s scope.

· Construct and install concrete forms and assist with concrete placement and related construction activities.

· Perform selective demolition associated with renovation and repair projects.

· Identify materials, fasteners, hardware, tools, and equipment required to complete assigned work.

· Provide field measurements and quantities to assist with material ordering and project planning.

· Notify field leadership of material shortages before they affect production.

· Safely operate common carpentry hand tools and power tools.

· Properly maintain, inspect, clean, and store company tools and equipment.

· Coordinate work with Laborers, Equipment Operators, subcontractors, and other construction personnel as directed.

· Assist less-experienced employees with proper construction methods, tool use, and workmanship.

· Protect existing structures, finishes, equipment, and customer property while performing work.

· Maintain clean and organized work areas.

· Complete assigned work according to project schedules and communicate potential delays or problems to field leadership.

· Identify and immediately report concealed conditions, plan conflicts, damaged materials, quality concerns, or conditions that may result in additional work.

· Take progress photographs, measurements, and other field documentation when requested.

· Perform other construction-related duties consistent with the employee’s training, experience, and assigned responsibilities.

Quality Responsibilities

The Carpenter is expected to take ownership of the quality of assigned work.

Responsibilities include:

· Verify measurements before cutting or installation.

· Install materials according to plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.

· Maintain appropriate fit, finish, alignment, level, plumb, and appearance.

· Inspect completed work before reporting an assignment complete.

· Correct deficiencies within the Carpenter’s assigned work.

· Protect completed work from damage by subsequent construction activities.

· Notify field leadership when existing conditions prevent work from being completed according to plans or specifications.

Safety Responsibilities

Safety is a condition of employment with RCI.

The Carpenter is expected to:

· Follow all RCI, project-specific, OSHA, and applicable jobsite safety requirements.

· Wear and properly maintain required personal protective equipment.

· Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required training.

· Inspect tools, ladders, scaffolding, and equipment before use.

· Use guards, fall protection, dust control, hearing protection, and other safety systems as required.

· Maintain awareness of electrical, fall, excavation, equipment, overhead, and other construction hazards.

· Help less-experienced employees understand safe construction practices.

· Stop and report work that cannot be performed safely.

· Immediately report injuries, incidents, near misses, damaged equipment, and unsafe conditions.

· Never perform licensed or specialized work without appropriate authorization, training, or qualification.

Minimum Qualifications

· Demonstrated carpentry or construction experience sufficient to independently perform assigned skilled work.

· Working knowledge of construction materials, fasteners, hardware, tools, and methods.

· Ability to safely operate common carpentry hand and power tools.

· Ability to accurately measure, layout, cut, and install construction materials.

· Ability to read a tape measure and perform construction-related mathematics.

· Ability to read and follow construction drawings, specifications, and written instructions.

· Ability to identify basic material and quantity requirements for assigned work.

· Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a construction crew.

· Dependable attendance and ability to report to assigned jobsites on time.

· Ability to communicate effectively with field leadership, coworkers, subcontractors, and customers.

· Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with both rough and finish carpentry.

· Experience installing doors and windows.

· Experience with siding and exterior carpentry.

· Experience with cabinetry and casework installation.

· Experience with drywall and flooring.

· Experience with concrete forming.

· Commercial and residential construction experience.

· OSHA 10 or other recognized construction safety training.

· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record when operation of company vehicles is required.

Physical Requirements

The position regularly requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, carrying, and working from various positions associated with construction activities.

The employee must be capable of safely handling construction materials, tools, and equipment consistent with assigned duties, using team lifting or mechanical assistance when appropriate.

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, wind, dust, noise, heights, uneven terrain, construction equipment, and other typical construction-site conditions.

· Complete assigned work efficiently and within reasonable production expectations.

· Accurately measure and plan work before beginning construction.

· Anticipate material and tool requirements.

· Minimize material waste and rework.

· Take care of company tools, vehicles, equipment, and materials.

· Maintain clean and organized jobsites.

· Communicate problems before they become schedule or cost issues.

· Work cooperatively with the construction crew.

· Help develop less-experienced employees.

· Take pride and ownership in completed work.

Position Purpose

The Carpenter is a core skilled-trade position within RCI’s construction workforce.

The position provides RCI with internal capacity to self-perform carpentry, renovation, installation, and repair scopes rather than relying unnecessarily on outside subcontractors.

The Carpenter’s productivity, quality, material awareness, and ability to complete assigned work efficiently directly affect RCI’s project costs, customer satisfaction, and profitability

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
