You are invited to join us for the sixth-annual Tatanka Trot - our take on the popular "Turkey Trot" events. Registration is officially live!
As Thanksgiving nears, it’s almost time to hit the trail to honor Lakota culture and support the Sicangu Oyate community. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or looking to make an impact, Tatanka Trot is your chance to celebrate and give back. The Tatanka Trot has become a fan favorite for both community members and donors alike. More than a run, it's a gathering to honor and recognize the history of our land, and uplift Indigenous wisdom - exemplified by our very-own Wolakota Buffalo Range, which is the largest Native-managed bison herd in the world, and the inspiration behind this event!
Registration to run and learn more is 100% free but donations are utilized and appreciated.
All participants who donate $40 or more will receive a code for a free, exclusive baseball cap (shown below) with free shipping through our online shop! Very limited quantity available on a first-come, first-served basis so make your donation today!
Also back this year- Become a Sicangu Co Ambassador! By creating your own fundraising page, you can rally friends and family to support Sicangu Co. The TWO people who raise the most money through their pages, will receive a free custom Yeti tumblers (shown below) from Sicangu Co. Remember, TWO are available!

Save the Date: Wolakota Celebration
The Wolakota Buffalo Range is celebrating five years since the arrival of the first bison! To mark the occasion, the Wolakota team is excited to extend an invitation to a community meal and gathering at the ranch.
Join us to honor this milestone! We will be offering UTV rides out to view the 1,100 head herd! Bring your family, friends, and appetite. This will be a great opportunity to slow down and enjoy some good food together. The event is open to everyone, so please extend the invite!

The community survey is taking place in partnership with the Trust for Civic Life and the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University. To get a sense for the questions, here are the results from last year's survey from other rural communities.
