Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Location: Mission, South Dakota

Position Summary

The Seasonal Office Assistant supports the day-to-day administrative and customer service operations of Sicangu Propane during the busy winter season. This position assists with answering phones, scheduling deliveries, processing payments, maintaining customer records, and providing general clerical support to ensure efficient and professional service to all customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming phone calls, take customer orders, and route messages appropriately.

  • Assist with scheduling propane deliveries and coordinating with drivers.

  • Process customer payments and maintain accurate receipts and transaction records.

  • Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues courteously.

  • Maintain organized filing systems for customer accounts, delivery logs, and invoices.

  • Assist in preparing daily, weekly, or monthly reports as directed by the Office Manager.

  • Support office operations by performing basic clerical tasks such as data entry, photocopying, scanning, and mailing.

  • Communicate with customers regarding account balances, delivery schedules, and safety information.

  • Assist with end-of-day cash balancing and deposit preparation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support efficient propane operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Prior office, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry systems preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time efficiently.

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment with frequent interaction with the public.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and perform basic office functions for extended periods.

  • May occasionally assist in outdoor tasks related to propane delivery scheduling or customer service.

Employment Period

This is a seasonal position typically running from October through March, with the possibility of extension based on workload and performance.
