“REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL” Bids for haying to be done on a share agreement for summer 2024 at Turtle Creek Crossing, West of Mission, SD

Introduction: Rosebud Farm Company (RFC) is accepting bids for haying to be done on a share agreement for summer 2024 at Turtle Creek Crossing West of Mission, SD: Approximately 145 acres of grass and grass/alfalfa in T39N-R28W-S31. Hay ground is on the south half of the section and is accessed from Highway 18. 2023 yield: First cutting alfalfa was 141 round bales with an average weight of 1,540lbs. Native prairie grass 76 round bales with an average weight of 1,480lbs. Second cutting alfalfa 125 round bales with an average weight 1,460lbs.

Terms of haying include:

  • Haying must start between July 1 and July 31 unless otherwise approved.

  • Lessee (bidder) will be responsible for stacking RFC share of hay on site at sites specified by Ag Manager.

  • Lessee will be responsible for all operational costs of haying including machinery, fuel, labor, and supplies.

  • Hay must be put up in large round bales with net wrap.

  • Communicating timeline and bale counts with Ag Manager prior to removal of any hay.

  • No subleasing or subcontracting without prior approval of Ag manager.

  • Lessee’s share of hay must be removed by December 1, 2024, unless otherwise approved.

  • Does not include any grazing, farming, or other use privileges.

Interested parties should send an email of interest to: bud@sicangu.co by 5:00 PM on May 1st, 2024. In this email, please include:

1) Percentage of hay crop to lessee (bidder) and to lessor (RFC)

2) Any specific proposals for haying

3) Tribal enrollment number and documentation if claiming Indian Preference
