POSITION: Keya Wakpala Project Support Specialist

REPORT: Sicangu CDC Managing Director (KWW Team Lead)

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Keya Wakpala Woiċaġeyapi (Turtle Creek Regenerative Development) will be a living community that nourishes the Siċaŋġu spirit and way of life. The Keya Wakpala (KW) site comprises 590 acres that eventually will be home to anywhere from 200-600 affordable and accessible quality-built, energy efficient homes, centered around a community garden and a multi-use gathering space, with places for people to shop and work and for children to play together. Keya Wakpala offers a pathway to reclaiming who we are as the Siċaŋġu Lak̇ota Oyate.

We are looking for an outgoing and highly organized Project Support Coordinator to assist with the management of daily operations and administrative tasks. The Project Support Coordinator (PSC) undertakes a range of project research, analysis, reporting, implementation and administrative activities to support the development and delivery of projects, in line with established project plans and objectives. The PSC sits at the center of a dynamic team – including a Housing Coordinator, Community Outreach Coordinator, and Team Lead, in additional to other internal partners - providing support for key projects and initiatives, and direct support to the Team Lead for new and emerging projects. Additionally, this will be a key role in being an effective liaison and between internal and external community and stakeholders, especially in supporting organizational leadership in communicating project updates to organizational and tribal leadership. To be successful as a PSC, applicants should be able to resolve problematic situations efficiently and have excellent communication and organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Support all members of the Keya Wakpala team to achieve high impact in their given area through project and operational support, such as assistance with completion of key tasks and project deliverables.

  • Support all members of the Keya Wakpala team through administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, compiling reports, and presenting key information and opportunities for collaboration

  • Assist with managing external stakeholder relations, assisting in creating and delivering presentations and reports; especially focused on providing project updates and creating opportunities for community-based partners and stakeholders to meaningfully engage with the project as it grows

  • Assist with development and research of new and emerging opportunities that support the overall goals of Keya Wakpala

  • Prepare and maintain project documents and reports, ensuring accessibility of key documents and information

  • Help to ensure strong participation and support for the project from various Sicangu Co boards by providing timely and meaningful updates through board reports, presentations, and invitations to key events.

  • Assist with management of consultants, and ensure prompt and timely payment for services

  • Assist with overall grant management activities, including finances and grant reporting

  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work in both a collaborative team setting as well as independently. Highly self-motivated

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong connection to Sicangu community

  • Familiarity with Office 365 products.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • High School diploma or GED,

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.

  • Prior work experience, including references.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • College preferred

  • Prior project management experience

  • Prior experience with public speaking, presentations, and/or marketing

  • Prior experience with grant management

  • COMPENSATION:

  • Based on qualifications and experience

  • Salary range is $20 to $25 hourly.

CERTIFICATIONS

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
