POSITION: Assistant Summer Intern Mentor – Operations Assistant
REPORT: Youth Internship Coordinator
CLASSIFICATION: Contract
LOCATION: Sicangu Co Headquarters Mission, SD
JOB SUMMARY:
The assistant Summer Intern Mentor will serve as a role model and mentor for participants (ages 16 – 24) in the 7Gen Summer Youth Internship. The Assistant Summer Intern Mentor will support the Youth Internship Coordinator to create a safe, engaging, and meaningful internship experience. The successful candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, able to handle confidential information, as well as demonstrate the ability to handle changing priorities. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and community members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a positive role model for the interns
Manage and maintain a professional filing system (physical and electronic) for Intern paperwork, certificates, etc.
Submit all receipts and invoices for the program using Sicangu Co’s financial process.
Keep track of supplies and materials needs for activities.
Participate in internship break-out groups alongside and encourage collaboration as needed
Communicate any challenges or intern concerns to the Youth Internship Coordinator
Assist interns with their community projects as needed
Adapt to evolving responsibilities, as directed by internship staff
Additional duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Embrace the mission of the Sicangu Co Ecosystem and the 7Gen Vision
Experience working with youth, including supporting, encouraging, and/or mentoring
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to serve as a role model to 20 summer interns
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize
Ability to work in both a collaborative team setting as well as independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with Office 365 products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must have dependable transportation
Must pass a comprehensive background check
COMPENSATION: $17.50/hour, 35 hours per week for the duration of the internship
Pay: $17.50 per hour
Work Location: In person
