Asset Accountant

JOB SUMMARY

The Assets Accountant provides accounting support focused primarily on inventory accuracy and reporting, with additional responsibility for fixed asset and lease accounting. This position ensures inventory balances, cost of goods sold, depreciation, and lease activity are properly recorded and reconciled in Sage Intacct in accordance with established accounting policies and GAAP. The role operates under the direction of the General Ledger Accountant and supports month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and audit preparation. This position is accounting-focused and does not include operational inventory management, purchasing, or logistics responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Maintain accuracy of the inventory subledger in Sage Intacct.

· Perform monthly inventory counts and reconcile results to inventory records.

· Investigate inventory variances and prepare supporting documentation.

· Prepare inventory adjustment and reclassification entries for review.

· Assist with reconciliation of inventory balances and cost of goods sold.

· Review inventory item setup, GL mappings, and cost methods.

· Record fixed asset additions, disposals, and transfers with supporting documentation.

· Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with monthly depreciation entries.

· Reconcile fixed asset balances to the general ledger.

· Assist with recording leases using established templates.

· Maintain lease schedules and prepare monthly lease-related entries.

· Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for inventory, fixed assets, and leases.

· Maintain organized digital documentation in accordance with retention standards.

· Assist with internal and external audit requests.

· Identify and communicate discrepancies or issues requiring follow-up.

· Complete special accounting projects assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

· Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience

· Experience with inventory accounting or reconciliations preferred

· Working knowledge of GAAP concepts (FASB and GASB)

· Proficiency with accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred) and Microsoft Excel

· Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

· Experience with multi-entity accounting preferred

· Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is valued

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Pay: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time (40 hours)

Schedule: Monday to Friday (may be altered to accommodate monthly and year-end inventory tasks)
