WHAT IS VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION?

We are a collaborative program that helps individuals with disabilities to become employees in the competitive work force. The Sicangu Vocational Rehabilitation Program is a leader in providing disability related services to assist people with employment opportunities.

 
Vocational rehabilitation offers assistance to those individuals and a team consisting of your rehabilitation staff to review your health records and other patient information.

Our Mission

  • To provide services to individuals with a disability barrier to employment; who is willing to work through a process for gainful employment in order to obtain an improved quality of life and a brighter future.

  • To provide Vocational Rehabilitation services through a collaborative arrangement with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe , Sinte Gleska University and South Dakota State Programs

HOW DOES VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION WORK? 

You and your counselor will develop and Individualized Plan for employment (IPE). This written agreement will list services that you and your counselor have decided will assist you to obtain your employment goal. You may need to share the costs of some services, but you and your counselor will talk about services before they begin.

 
 

WHAT ARE SOME SERVICES THAT WILL BENEFIT ME? 

  • Evaluations, medical, psychological, educational, work related 

  • Vocational counseling adjustment to disability, planning for the future, interest assessments, disability related knowledge

  • Training, on the job training, job coaching and post secondary training programs

  • Employment, resumes, applications, interviewing, job placement assistance

  • Accommodations, personal support services, assistive technology, interpreters, readers, note takers, ADA, work site evaluations

  • Transition services for students 16years old and older. Services can include Project Skills , attending IEP meetings, and other school to work activities.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? 

  • Enrolled member of a Federally Recognized Tribe

  • Physically resides on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation

  • Has a physical, mental or emotional disability.

  • Limits from the disability keeps the individual from preparing for, finding or maintaining employment.

 ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATION PROCESS:

How long the process of eligibility takes varies with each individual. That’s why it is important to provide all information as soon as possible to help speed up the process.
