🌟 FutureShock: A Summer of Self-Discovery and Career Exploration
This summer, Siċaŋġu Co partnered with the Reinvention Lab at Teach For America to host FutureShock Summer 2025—a bold and hands-on learning experience for local youth ages 13–18.
Over the course of two ten-day sessions (July 7–18 and July 21–August 1), students stepped into a transformative space to explore their interests, discover new career pathways, and build the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. One of the really awesome things about this program is that it is run by local young people, 2 of whom are former 7Gen interns!
Rooted in curiosity, community, and self-direction, FutureShock challenged our youth to think beyond traditional career paths. In a world where future jobs may not even exist yet, our students practiced:
✨ Owning their learning – learning how to choose projects, set goals, and build the momentum to follow through
🔍 Exploring their interests – using real-world tools and experiences to try out potential career paths
🤝 Building meaningful relationships – working in teams, giving and receiving feedback, and reflecting together
The program culminated in a high-energy Demo Day at our local Todd County High School, pictured within this newsletter, where participants proudly presented their final projects to their families and peers. Some of the amazing ideas shared included:
đź’Ľ An eyelash business
🏀 A Lakota-themed basketball board game
🍽️ A food blog featuring local favorites
The creativity was inspiring—and the students were beaming as they showcased what they had built.
Wopila taŋka to the Reinvention Lab for dreaming big with us—and to the students who brought their vision, heart, and energy into this space. The future isn’t just coming—it’s being built by our youth, right here on the Rosebud.
