BIG NEWS FOR WAK̇AŊYEJA KI ṪOKEYAḢC̄I! 🎉🎉🎉

We are proud to share that Wak̇aŋyeja Ki Ṫokeyaḣc̄i (WKT) has been nationally recognized as a 2026 Yass Prize semifinalist, receiving a $100,000 STOP Award for its innovative approach to Indigenous education!

Selected among education innovators from across the country, WKT is being recognized for reimagining what education can look like when Lak̇ota language, culture, and values are at the heart of learning. 📚🪶

Since opening its doors in 2020, WKT has been building something greater than a school. It’s helping reclaim and rebuild a Siċaŋġu education system where our children can grow up knowing who they are, where they come from, and the strength of their Lak̇ota identity. ❤️ 💪

This recognition is more than an award. It’s an investment in the future of our children, our language, and our Nation.

🗺️ 💫 As WKT continues working toward its vision of becoming a comprehensive K–12 Lak̇ota immersion school, we celebrate the educators, students, families, and community who make this work possible.

👏 🥳 Congratulations to the entire WKT team! Your dedication is creating opportunities for generations to come.
