POSITION: Seasonal Contract Gardeners

JOB SUMMARY: The Contract Gardeners will use SCDC gardening equipment to build 65 family gardens in the communities. This position will end June 30, 2024.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • This is a labor heavy position that includes measuring, plowing, raking, shoveling, and weeding family gardens to prepare them for planting (families will do their own planting).

  • Meet with families to plan garden location and size.

  • Distribute educational gardening materials and supplies to families.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have reliable transportation to/from office.

  • Familiar with basic gardening tools and open to learning more.

  • Comfortable working outdoors.

  • Lift 25lbs+

  • Key characteristics of a strong applicant includes: strong work ethic, communication, patience, listening skills, problem-solving skills, and professional ethical and safety standards.

COMPENSATION:

This is a contract position. Contract Gardeners will work M-TH 8:00am to 2:30pm and be compensated $18 per hour with lunch provided.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week

Schedule:

  • No weekends
