Job Summary

The Agriculture Coordinator supports the daily operations and seasonal activities across Rosebud Farm Company’s irrigated pivots, dryland farm ground, and dryland hay fields. This position plays a key role in ensuring that infrastructure, land use, and team operations run effectively and safely, in alignment with the mission of to build self-sufficiency in agriculture, create meaningful employment on Native lands, and keep food and resources within the Sicangu community."

The ideal candidate is a reliable and experienced land steward with strong mechanical, organizational, and communication skills. They are capable of leading seasonal operations, coordinating with partners and contractors, and managing a small team across multiple field units in a remote agricultural setting.

Scope of Responsibility

Field Operations

  • Implement seasonal planting, harvest, and haying activities across irrigated and dryland acres

  • Monitor field conditions, crop progress, weed pressure, and soil health practices

  • Coordinate irrigation schedules and report issues with pivots or water systems to the General Manager

Infrastructure & Equipment

  • Operate and maintain tractors, implements, and irrigation-related equipment

  • Inspect and maintain fencing, field roads, and other farm infrastructure

  • Ensure safe use and routine maintenance of vehicles, tools, and machinery

Team Supervision

  • Supervise seasonal workers and assigned contract laborers during field operations

  • Provide direction and ensure safety during daily tasks and special projects

  • Track worker hours and task completion and report to the General Manager

  • Ensure daily operations align with the direction and goals established by the General Manager

Administrative & Reporting

  • Participate in monthly budget reviews and submit weekly receipts for operational expenses.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records for acreage, yields, irrigation, and input usage

· Coordinate with the General Manager on long-term planning, infrastructure improvements, and major purchases.

Knowledge and Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in agriculture, hay production, or related field

  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in remote, rugged environments

  • Working knowledge of pivot irrigation systems, field equipment, and seasonal crop operations

  • Valid driver’s license required; trailer or CDL experience preferred

  • Strong organization, reliability, and attention to detail

  • Basic computer skills for logging records, timekeeping, and communication

  • Ability to supervise others and manage multiple tasks effectively

Schedule

This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional extended hours or weekend work during peak seasons. On-call availability may be required during planting, harvest, or weather-related events.

Relocation Requirement

This position requires regular presence at Rosebud Farm Company’s field units near Mission, SD. Local candidates or those willing to relocate are preferred. Housing is not provided.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
